Well that makes sense, but then you find out they actually make a weighted random decision to go against either the aliens or you (%70 to go after You!). You are told that the lost are attracted to sound and will attack anyone they see. Let me give you two examples: the lost and chosen.

For example, mind control is much less of a problem because everyone starts with a flashbang grenade, and grenade cover destruction is much less unrealistically good because standard grenades donвЂ™t destroy cover (if that sounds alarming, be assured there are new abilities that allow you to wreck cover or hit enemies anyway).ДЇeeling like youвЂ™re not very connected to the world and itвЂ™s fight against advent? Well in LW2, you actually undertake a series of five missions in each region to liberate it! They are awesome, increasing in difficulty (ending with a huge assault on an ADVENT HQ of probably 25 aliens minimum), and provide a real sense of accomplishment and strategic depth.ДЇinally, what really made me quit my WOTC campaign (the brick that broke the camels back, as it was the last thing but isnвЂ™t insignificant in itself) was how the enemies donвЂ™t play by the rules. Combined with the increased squad sizes, this means you will develop a veritable army of soldiers (in my last playthrough, 85 different soldiers saw action).ДЇeel like some abilities are really unbalanced? LW2 changes ensure that missions are challenging without some abilities becoming overly important.

Thinking the current soldier classes are a bit lacking? Not to worry, LW2 both adds four classes but also fleshes out ALL of the classes further (three upgrade options each promotion). Wondering why, after your soldiers finish an objective such as hacking or relay destruction, they have to stay behind and finish off the aliens? Or how the skyranger becomes instantly available for extraction? In LW2, both of these problems are solved in that very few missions require elimination of the aliens (allowing for actually useful stealth tactics) and that the skyranger always takes at least one turn to arrive (depending, again, on infiltration). ItвЂ™s up to you when you start the mission, and how much youвЂ™ve infiltrated determines the strength of aliens youвЂ™ll face.ДЇrustrated that rookies have so little health and are liable to being one-shot crit hit by a sectiod? Long war 2 gives all soldiers (by default) two points of ablative armor that absorbs the first two points of damage taken, dramatically decreasing sudden death by unlucky RNG. During this period your troops are deployed but working behind the scenes as you continue to scan on the hologlobe. Having to stop wherever youвЂ™re scanning on the hologlobe to immediately go on a mission, resulting in the Avenger flying around the map like a pinball, never having time to get to everything? With LW2 missions donвЂ™t usually pop up ready to launch, rather, mission opportunities ( more than youвЂ™ll be able to realistically go on) will pop up that have an infiltration period. Is the sky ranger really that cramped? LW2 allows between 8-10 soldiers per mission, but adds a new infiltration mechanism that makes how many soldiers you take an important and interesting choice. Here are some gripes I had with Vanilla and WOTC and how LW2 addresses them in awesome ways: With one caveat - it doesnвЂ™t explain its new systems very well so I would definitely recommend reading up online about how it works so you donвЂ™t miss important features. The long answer is that Long War 2 is a more complete, immersive, and fair game.
